Plot Twist

The publication accompanying the 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival’s major tribute Plot Twist, Beyond the Sixth Sense examines one of the most classic narrative mechanisms in a new light. Taking an approach that converses with forensic aesthetics, it infiltrates the moving image in a spirit of investigation. It focuses on details of the frame, reconstructs the actors’ movements with linear sketches, maps the characters’ field of vision, examines the ways in which the world is built. Sometimes resembling an anatomy class, sometimes at the scene of a crime, and sometimes in the laboratory, the book’s texts and illustrations traverse the distance from surprise to recognition.
